Daniel as a starting point

Matthew:

“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— ” (Matt. 24:15, NIV)

Revelation:

  • “Burnished bronze” legs (Dan. 10:6; Rev. 1:15)
  • Fire eyes (Dan. 10:6; Rev. 1:14)
  • Falls (Dan. 10:8-9; Rev. 1:17)

    • “roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end” (Dan. 12:4)

  • Historical (70 years of captivity): 1; 3; 5-6
  • Prophetic: 2; 7; 8-12
    • 2 (Statue) & 7 (Beast): Five Kingdoms
    • Dan. 4 = Babylon
    • Dan. 8; 10-11 = Medo-Persia
    • Dan. 8; 10-11 = Greece
    • Dan. 9 (and 12) = Kingdom of God (versus Antichrist)

Revelation Hints

  • Rome and the church not expounded further in Daniel
  • Revelation is Part 2 of Daniel
  • Revelation: Scroll: Seals – Trumpets – Bowls
  • Starts and finishes with Jesus and Church (think “Rock” and “Son of Man” in Daniel)
