In Lamentations 4:17 we are told:

Our eyes failed, ever watching
vainly for help;
in our watching we watched
for a nation which could not save.

But the remedy was there all along in Lamentation 3:25-26

The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the Lord.

Are we getting it backwards today as well?
