1/10/18 Reflections
Summary:
- Thessalonian church is progressing well, but Paul wants to urge them even further – especially in purity, love, and eschatology.
Insights:
- 1:4-5 – where the Spirit is clearly operating is a sign that God wants to do something with those people
- 2:4 – we speak the gospel to others, ultimately for God (not them)
- 2 – both women and man / mother and father reveal God together
- 2:18 – Satan can hinder even Spirit-filled apostles
- 3:2-3 – when afflictions happen for the faith it is prudent to give special teaching and encouragement to those people
- 4-5 – we continue to see Paul’s themes of prayer and unity
- 5:27 – we are strongly charged to make sure the church hears (and, by implication, understands) this letter (and, by implication, all of the Bible)
For Brian to obey:
- Continue laboring in prayer
- Continue in teaching ministry
