  1. Baptism An antitype of the flood. Emergence from ark the day of resurrection
    Genesis 8:4, Exodus 12:1, 6 The seventh month was changed to the first month by
    God through Moses.
    14th day of the month the day lambs were to be slain in Israel corresponds to
    Passover, 17th of Abib, on the third day, corresponds to the resurrection.
    After the fortieth day the ark rests symbolic of our rest in Christ Hebrews 4:1-11
    B. Substance Why do we need to do this? Example & Precept (teaching)

Faith

  1. Jesus was baptized Matt 3:13 etc. and commanded it to be done Mk 16:16
  2. Apostles did it and taught that it needed to be done Acts 2:38, 41 etc
  3. Romans teaches us what it means
    a. Romans 6:1-4 Shall we continue in sin No We are buried with Christ in baptism
    b. we are dead now (by faith) will be raised –future (although now if we reckon
    ourselves dead we are already seated with him in the heavenlies Eph. 2:1,5-6
    c. Romans 6:5-11 We have been crucified with Christ so that we shall live.
    Have been freed from sin (past tense) It is an accomplished fact through Christ
    But appropriated through faith Hebrews 11:1

  4. What then should we do?
    a. (Repeat) Reckon yourselves to be dead that this is an accomplished fact
    b. Romans 6:12, 13 Do not let sin reign in your mortal bodies, that you should
    obey its lusts; present yourselves as alive from the dead, and your members as
    instruments of righteousness to God.
    c. Romans 6:14,15 For sin Shall not have dominion over you for you are not
    under law, but under grace.
