But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
Acts 6:4
Prayer

- There are very few righteous people in the land (vv.1-4)
- Can’t trust people (vv.5-6)
- I will look and wait on God alone (v.7)
- Though I have sinned against God, and the enemy seems to triumph, The Lord will come through (vv.8-10)
- God’s people will be restored by God’s leading (vv.11-20)
- God will forgive the sins of his faithful remnant (vv.18-19)
Isaiah 1 – God speaks…
- My people have turned away from Me, and have sinned greatly (vv.2-6)
- God’s land would have been completely destroyed if there wouldn’t have been faithful remnant (vv.7-9)
- My people go through religious motions, and I hate and despise all of it (vv.10-15)
- Repent and you will be forgiven (vv.16-20)
- My people have compromised and become a harlot (vv.21-23)
- I will destroy the evil and cleanse my people (vv.24-31)
Ministry of Word
- Matt. 13:3-4,18-19; Luke 13:25-27 – It is not enough to just hear the word or be around the word
- Prov. 25:2 – We must search it out
- Job 28:1-11 – It takes energy and effort to mine out treasures
QUESTION: Why should we take the time to know and search out the Word?
(Answer must accord with Scripture – see Matthew. 4:3-11)
