Taken, with slight modifications, from Curtis Sergeant’s MetaCamp Outline.
For those interested…
Here is a brief outline on the “simple church” structure that is similar to what is being practiced by people all over the world in various discipleship/church-planting movements:
Note: Best to do this in groups of 2-15 adults. Communion is included during this.
⅓ – Look Back
- Share/care:
- Testimony? Answers to prayer?
- Relationship with God?
- Concerns? Struggles? (note: if there are, pray and stay later with person)
- *Check-up:
- How did you obey what you learned?
- Who have you trained in what you learned?
- What opportunities did you have for sharing your story/God’s story?
- *Vision:
- Share story/song to encourage group to evangelize/disciple
- Examples: Matt. 28:18-20; Luke 10:1-11; Acts 1:8; Luke 19:1-10; Matt. 13:1-23
- Share story/song to encourage group to evangelize/disciple
⅓ – Look Up
- Pray: simply; briefly
- read/discuss:
- Ask God to teach passage (5-15 verses total is ideal)
- Read it aloud
- Retell it in own words
- What did you like? What was difficult?
- Read again
- What does this tell you about people? God?
⅓ – Look Forward
- *Pray for Spirit to give vision/answers to these (and write down):
- How will you obey the passage?
- Who will you train with the passage?
- Who will you share your/God’s story with?
- *Practice doing these things in 2s and 3s
- Pray in 2s and 3s for these things
* Don’t skip.
Blessings,
Brian
