Taken, with slight modifications, from Curtis Sergeant’s MetaCamp Outline.

For those interested…

Here is a brief outline on the “simple church” structure that is similar to what is being practiced by people all over the world in various discipleship/church-planting movements:

Note: Best to do this in groups of 2-15 adults.  Communion is included during this.

⅓ – Look Back

  1. Share/care:
    1. Testimony? Answers to prayer?
    2. Relationship with God?
    3. Concerns? Struggles?  (note: if there are, pray and stay later with person)
  2. *Check-up:
    1. How did you obey what you learned?
    2. Who have you trained in what you learned?
    3. What opportunities did you have for sharing your story/God’s story?
  3. *Vision:
    1. Share story/song to encourage group to evangelize/disciple
      1. Examples: Matt. 28:18-20; Luke 10:1-11; Acts 1:8; Luke 19:1-10; Matt. 13:1-23

⅓ – Look Up

  1. Pray: simply; briefly
  2. read/discuss:
    1. Ask God to teach passage (5-15 verses total is ideal)
    2. Read it aloud
    3. Retell it in own words
    4. What did you like?  What was difficult?
    5. Read again
    6. What does this tell you about people?  God?

⅓ – Look Forward

  1. *Pray for Spirit to give vision/answers to these (and write down):
    1. How will you obey the passage?
    2. Who will you train with the passage?
    3. Who will you share your/God’s story with?
  2. *Practice doing these things in 2s and 3s
    1. Pray in 2s and 3s for these things

* Don’t skip.

Blessings,

Brian
